I want to let you know what the Lord is doing in our lives, and ask you to pray specifically for Rick’s back and Right knee. They are currently causing him pain and at night it becomes more excruciating, barring us from sleep. Rick lectures to 200+ students tomorrow and Friday evenings. The Lord has opened this door of opportunity again this year, last summer as he spoke in Wilsey, KA and many were saved, while others were encouraged in their faith and have decided to agree with God’s Word from Gen. 1:1 to the end of revelations. And as God says in Amos 3:3, “Can two walk together unless they be agreed?” We heard yesterday that many who heard Rick speak last year took Rick’s DVD’s and have been sharing them all over, so God is multiplying our work with Confound the Wise Ministries as He did with the loaves and fish, and you, dear friend, are very much a part of this work as you have given support and prayers through the years.
Here is a sampling of how God has been working mightily in and through us along the way:
While traveling through KY on the way to Wofford where Rick has his roots and family that still lives there, we got a call from a pastor before we passed through Louisville. Long story short he and his wife met us for lunch. Both he and his wife were surprised that Rick would bother with such a small church that can’t afford to pay us. When we shared that this is at the heart of our ministry and that we do not have a fee, simply a love offering would do, because we want the message God has given Rick to be available to all who will come, not just at the churches that can afford to have a big conference. They were amazed and the pastor invited Rick to speak the next night, Thursday, (“just a handful usually show up.”) and on Sunday, saying they have a congregation of 50-60. The pastor sent out an e-mail to his congregation (50 showed up on Thurs.evening). Thursday morning he got a call from one in his fellowship who said she was once married to Rick’s brother. The pastor called Rick, and Rick wasn’t surprised, but blessed, because God had been preparing his heart for this reunion. She had been going to this church in Louisville for about 5 years and recently had been praying and seeking counseling with the pastor’s wife for forgiveness and reconciliation. Rick called her before the Thurs. meeting and she said one of the miracles of all this is that her son, Rick’s nephew, was coming with her Thursday evening. He and Rick talked at some length (he’d not been in church since his mom and dad divorced in 1998). Also, for some time I had been praying that the truth in Isaiah 58:12-14 would become a reality in families as well as in lives as the foundation of God’s Word is established and “old waste places” restored through us and through Confound the Wise ministries as we “go for God’s glory.”

We arrived safely in Wilsey, KA on Friday, 7/18/10. The day before, (Thursday) the Lord kept our truck/camper/trailer with car from flipping over on Interstate 70 in MO. We were doing 65 when a large RV bumped the spare tire on the right side of the trailer, the car trailer and our truck began wildly fish tailing and the truck was going up on 2 wheels from side to side and the camper was also going from side to side. Rick, miraculously brought it back into order, and as other vehicles on the Interstate saw what was happening they ALL backed off. We were quite shaken, but no one was hurt. Other than a tire mark on the other RV and the inside of our camper was disheveled, but we know, first hand, that the LORD’s mercy is new every morning (it happened around 10:30am), His mercy truly endures forever (Ps.136).
